Major economic opportunities impacting the immediate area include Mercedes-Benz U.S. International in Tuscaloosa, Ala., Toyota vehicle manufacturing in Tupelo, Miss., and Severstal Steel processing and PACCAR's Truck Engine production facility in Columbus, Miss. The tri-county area is home to many long-time corporate citizens, such as 3M, who recently announced a multi-million dollar expansion in Guin, where they have operated for the past 56 years. Additionally, Navistar recently announced they will be locating a new production facility in the Shoals area immediately north of the C3 region.
